IN BRIEF: Afghanistan Vision Network’s April dialogue on elections included the vital role for civil society in successful and transparent elections, the controversial date already set (5 April, 2014, before snow-melt in many remote regions), pending election law, security concerns, and more. A network member shared about citizen-led mobilization and civic education happening in Nuristan, with educators dissociated from political parties and instead focusing on informing and empowering citizens to be involved in shaping their government and their future.
For further brainstorming and action (let us know your ideas!)

1. What should democracy and/or just governance look like in the Afghan context?

2. How can we expand efforts and mechanisms for informing and empowering citizens?
